The History

It all started when…

“I just followed my heart.”

Growing up my Nana Martin gave me a couple bad perms in the family kitchen. Everyone always complimented my eye liner and messy buns in school. So, I got curious. After starting beauty school at 14 years old at Northern Montgomery Technical Career Center, I just knew this industry was meant for me.

I have always wanted a safe place I could be myself, to be seen, valued and heard. I was never a confident girl and the fact that little old me could make someone feel their best self, well, that was a win for me. Every salon I worked in made me feel apart of something bigger. I honestly felt, I finally had a purpose.

In 2006, I was 19 and had a baby. After my son was born, I came to Doylestown and settled down to start my career. After working in a few salons in the Central Bucks Area, I had met and worked with some amazing stylists, business owners, industry educators, and with some of the best brands in the industry. I managed corporate salons, worked in family owned private salons, trained newer stylists, became certified in coaching and business programs, different techniques of the industry, taught in salons along the East Coast for Keune Haircosmetics, but even after all that something was missing.

I finally reached a cross road in my career where I just felt ready. I had a vision for something that meant more than just a hairdresser. It was about building a career, creating, and doing what you love. That’s when SiMPLEE U was created in 2016.

I took a huge risk. I raided my Nana Greaser’s garage for furniture and opened SiMPLEE U at 189 S. Main St. in Doylestown. It was such a beautiful building and at first it was just me. Before I knew it, stylist friends and friends of friends began to reach out. We were an 800 sq ft salon with 3 stations.

In 4 years, we grew to 5 stations and were using every inch of our salon space. Then in 2020 Covid hit. After ducking and weaving the challenges this brought, in 2021, we were told our building had been sold. Now I was facing another challenge, an unexpected move.

I won’t bore you with that story, believe me, it was quite the journey. But I do believe everything happens full circle, and in the end, the Universe was on our side. As a team, our Crew worked together to design, build and paint our new location at 20 Donaldson St. in Doylestown.

We are now in an 1,800 sq ft space with 7 stations, 2 bathrooms, a washer and dryer, and so much more we never had before. We are incredibly grateful for every new friend and for all of our old friends that stuck with us through the changes. We hope you love Our Happy Place as much as we do! Welcome to SiMPLEE U!

Allison’s Promise goes way beyond just being an owner. Infact, ask anyone, she actually doesn’t like when people call her “the boss”. The definition of leadership is to influence, inspire, and help others bring out their best selves and skills while achieving goals along the way. To be a great leader you have to have the perfect formula of empathy, discipline, vision, friendship, and awareness. As the business evolves, innovation grows, the need of the consumer and industry standards change, we will continue to reinvest in the people, ourselves and our happy place.

Client Review

When you visit the salon you can expect to be greeted immediately with a smile. I’m always asked if I’d like something to drink, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and the list goes on. They always have some sort of baked goods and Asher’s Chocolate Covered Pretzels. The ambiance is calming but fun, creative but simple. Everyone is always so happy and the air is always light. The best ting about this salon, all the stylist get along so well and you can see an honest friendship. It shows everyone is all about the same end game, doing what they love. SiMPLEE U truly is the “Cheers” of salons.
